We did it again; revealed by the FCC, the Samsung SPH-i700 will be available on the Sprint PCS network, has an integrated digital camera and runs Pocket PC Phone Edition!
Would you believe it; Samsung has made another blooper in not asking the FCC to conceal all information regarding the company's new SPH-i700 - a device that is likely to support CDMA2000 1xRTT, runs Pocket PC Phone Edition and will be available on the Sprint PCS network. The exposure follows short on the heels of infoSync being first to break the news of two other upcoming Samsung products, the SCH-i500, a Palm OS based smartphone, and the SPH-i600, a smartphone based on Microsoft's Smartphone 2002 platform.
Only the user manual for the SPH-i700 is available on the FCC website, but this still reveals a great deal of information about the device. For instance, it sports an integrated digital camera and a camera jog button in its upper left corner, does not offer short-range wireless connectivity such as Bluetooth but has an Infrared port, has external volume control keys and an earphone jack. The device also appears to be quite small - possibly as small as the O2 XDA and T-Mobile MDA which operate on GSM bands with GPRS support.

The SPH-i700, supporting 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands, is likely to support CDMA2000 1xRTT, seeing as how the SCH-500 and SPH-600 products both do. The purpose of the integrated digital camera is unclear, however since the lense points towards the user in the picture in the SPH-i700 manual, this could indicate that the SPH-i700 supports videoconferencing - a feature for which 1xRTT support would be required for.
Although the user manual does not list any further specifications for the device, Microsoft also has a given set of minimum requirements for devices that are allowed to run the company's Pocket PC 2002 and Pocket PC Phone Edition operating systems; so far, all devices on the market have a minimum of 32 MB RAM, 12-bit color displays and 206 MHz Intel StrongARM processors.
