Word processing giant WordSmith presses forward with a few new features and OS 5 support. Bring on the ARMs, Blue Nomad is ready.
Blue Nomad Software has released an update to their popular WordSmith word processor for the Palm OS, now including support for Palm OS 5 devices.

WordSmith from Blue Nomad Software is one of the most popular word processing applications for Palm OS-based handhelds. Although it does not include a full office suite, as do Quickoffice and Documents To Go, it is still widely considered the most full-featured word processing application, and has even been called "a better Pocket Word than Pocket Word". It is fully compatible with and takes extra advantage of the Stowaway foldable keyboard, LandWare GoType keyboard, and FitalyStamp tap-board. Besides its word processing features, it also functions as a capable PalmDoc reader, and features FineType sub-pixel rendering for increased clarity on color screens. It is compatible with both the HandEra QVGA High-Res screen and the Sony Rotated HVGA HighRes+ screen.
The new version, WordSmith 2.2, has been declared compatible with Palm OS 5.0. Other new features include an "Extended Selection" feature to select very large blocks of text for cut, copy, and paste functions, including multiple screens worth of text and blocks larger than the normal Palm clipboard can handle. It also includes an improved search-and-replace feature with conditional wrapping. There are also assorted other fixes and enhancements under the hood.
WordSmith 2.2 costs $29.95 USD, and is a free upgrade for registered users. A time-limited demo version is available that shuts off editing features after a period of time. The PalmDoc reading features remain active indefinitely. The desktop-side conduit is available for Windows or Macintosh, and a command line converter for GNU/Linux systems is available as well.
