Presented by Audiovox at this year’s CTIA Wireless IT event, four new phones - all with integrated CDMA2000 1xRTT capabilities - will make up the manufacturer's offering in the time ahead. Included in the new range of phones is the high-end CDM-9600 sporting an integrated digital camera, 16-bit TFT display and gpsOne, the CDM-9500 with dual displays, and the lower-end CDM-8500 and CDM-8300 models.

The Audiovox CDM-9500 sports dual displays
Besides its network capabilities including tri-mode (800 MHz AMPS/CDMA, 1900 MHz PCS) CDMA and support for CDMA2000 1xRTT, the CDM-9600 offers web browsing and 2-way short messaging service (SMS), as well as a built-in, digital camera. The handset can also display pictures on its 16-bit color display for photo IDs of incoming phone callers, and is equipped with gpsOne location positioning technology whereby a compatible carrier can track a user’s location during an emergency situation.

In addition to the CDM-9600, Audiovox will soon ship its CDMA tri-mode (800 MHz AMPS/CDMA, 1900 MHz PCS), web-enabled, CDMA2000 1xRTT-capable handset, the CDM-9500. Designed in a clamshell-styled form factor, the CDM-9500 is both voice- and data-capable as well as equipped with the MSM5100 chipset and gpsOne-based location positioning technology that enables compatible carriers to track a handset user’s location. The CDM-9500 also sports dual LCD displays, with an exterior LCD featuring a 2-line display for basic information while the interior’s primary LCD offers 9 lines of text on its 16-bit color TFT display. The handset also stores and displays photos of incoming callers, and weighs in at 3.8 oz. MSRP for the handset is $499 USD, excluding any carrier subsidies or discounts.

Audiovox also said the copmany is prepared to ship its voice- and data-capable CDM-8500, a CDMA tri-mode (800 MHz AMPS/CDMA, 1900 MHz PCS), web-enabled, CDMA2000 1xRTT-capable handset which also offers support for 2-way SMS and voice-activated dialing. Also in a clamshell-styled form factor, the CDM-8500 like the CDM-9500 sports dual LCD displays, as well as a MSM5100 chipset and gpsOne-based location positioning technology. Weighing in at 3.2 oz., the CDM-8500 is also available with EMS compatibility. MSRP for the CDM-8500 handset is $399 USD, although carrier subsidies may result in lower retail pricing.

Audiovox’ fourth new handset is the CDM-8300, a CDMA2000 1xRTT-capable, tri-mode handset equipped with a built-in speakerphone and a UP 4.1/5.0 browser. Equipped with the MSM5100 chipset and gpsOne location positioning technology (carrier system-dependent), the CDM-8300 is also available with EMS compatibility, and supports 2-way text messaging and voice-activated dialing. Audiovox pegs the CDM-8300’s MSRP at $249 USD, excluding any carrier subsidies or discounts.

Additional hi-res pictures of the Audiovox CDM-9600, CDM-9500, CDM-8500 and CDM-8300 are available on the following pages.
