Orange has announced an updated version of the SPV: the SPV E100, available this month in the UK. However, already tomorrow you can read the verdict here at infoSync World.
The original SPV smartphone, launched in late 2002, was the first commercially available handset running Microsoft’s SmartPhone 2002 operating system. Orange have now announced their branded version of the HTC Tanager reference design, the SPV E100.

Aside from alterations in styling, the E100 boasts a larger keypad than its predecessor and a small joystick instead of a D-pad, while the SPV’s reflective display is replaced by a transflective screen. All other specifications are identical, meaning that accessories and software will be compatible with both units.
The tri-band, GPRS SPV E100 boasts 16MB of RAM on a 132MHz OMAP processor, with a 176x220 pixel screen, SDIO slot and 1000mAh battery contained in a package weighing 95g. As with the SPV, an add-on camera is available, offering VGA resolution and picture-messaging capabilities.
Orange have opted to supply a greater number of accessories with the SPV E100, bundling the folding fabric keyboard previously reviewed. Also, for a limited time, a Time Out City guide to Europe is included on an MMC card at no extra cost.
As further incentives, Orange offer two services to owners of the SPV E100: Orange Backup, allowing one’s personal data to be saved on the network, and Orange Update, offering backgrounds, ringtones and software updates over the air.
The SPV E100 will be available for approximately 200 UKP plus contract from this month.
An additional hi-res picture of the Orange SPV E100 is available on the following page, and a full review of the new Orange SPV E100 will be published tomorrow.
